Public Drinking in New York City Given the Go-Ahead (Kinda)

In New York City (Manhattan) low-level offenses such as public consumption of alcohol (boozing it in the streets), public urination, and littering would no longer be punished by arrest. No this doesn't mean Times Square will become even more like The Strip because summons can be issued and arrests will still be made at NYPD discretion.

The NYC Food Bucket List (or Foods New Yorkers Eat Because We Have To or Because We Love To)

This is in response to an article I read recently listing 11 foods that should be on a New Yorker's food bucket list. Dollar pizza, dirty chicken and bodega sandwiches were not included on that list, but they are on mine.

These are foods many New Yorkers eat because it's 3 AM and/or we've been drinking, because it's what we can afford or because they're simply delicious.

Travel on the Water in New York City

Travel on the Water in New York City

Whenever the weather warms up, I find myself drawn to the water more than during the winter. Even if I'm not getting my feet wet but just watching the waves, ducking deranged seagulls and making up stories about the people on their boats, being by the water is like setting a reset button for my energy.

The water is also a great way to get around. And I'm surprised more people don't take advantage of it. In New York, the most recognizable ferry for commuters and the one with the highest ridership is the Staten Island Ferry. With NY waterfronts in all boroughs being developed there will be a need for more transportation. In the coming years, New York Water Taxi, The East River Ferry and the rest of the ferries run by New York Waterway will see an increase in ridership.
